Countdown to Argentina - 6 weeks!

Six weeks from today I will be hopping on an airplane and heading to Argentina! The thought of it makes me really excited, a bit nervous, and makes me realize how much I need to do in the next month and a half.

I've got my passport and my plane tickets, all of my confirmation materials have been submitted to the university, and the childcare arrangements have been made. The big stuff is covered (whew) but now it's time for the million little things I need to do.

My 6 weeks out to-do list:

  • Make my packing list. (I just love when making a list is on my to-do list. Me and lists we're good pals.) I might even do a dry run to see what fits in my suitcase and revaluate what I REALLY need.
  • Dust off my Spanish flashcards and start studying them every day.
  • Find a Spanish conversation partner for more studying.
  • Make a list (yay!) of the things that need to be done around the house before I leave. (If it's not on a list, it doesn't happen.)
  • Get Cecelia some "new" clothes (garage sales and thrift stores, here we come!) since she's grown out of just about everything and I need to be able to pack some actual clothes for her when she goes up north to grandma's.
  • Start on whatever letters or goodie boxes I'll be leaving for the girls while I'm gone. (Unfortunately for them, my mama-guilt is not as heavy as it was last summer so they aren't getting spoiled quite as much.)
  • Go fill my prescriptions for Xanax (flight anxiety) and cloroquine (malaria prevention since I'll be going to a higher-risk area in northern Argentina.)
  • Make an appointment at a special travel clinic to get the yellow fever vaccination (again since I'll be going to the northern part of the country.)
  • Figure out my travel budget.

And finally...

  • Enjoy the next 6 weeks with my kids soaking up the Minnesota summer and not stressing out about getting things done.
